Flexible Winning

It’s no secret that the most efficient way to see positive progress in your fitness or nutrition is to be consistent. As the program you follow becomes more rigid and the consistency you employ when following it becomes greater, you tend to see those results you’re looking for (sometimes incrementally, sometimes exponentially) faster.

The other day, I talked about not trying to do too much when looking to improve your nutrition. Therefore, it stands to reason that everything I just said contradicts my entire last post…

You’re not wrong.

The way I see it, the regular Joe asking for my help with his nutrition isn’t looking to prep for a bodybuilding competition. Most often, he just wants to shed a few pounds and look (and feel) a little healthier. In those cases, strict macros and 100% “clean” eating aren’t always necessary. More often, it’s enough to focus on filling your diet with a majority of whole, unprocessed foods and plenty of lean protein. And I’ve found that most often it’s more important to focus on the why behind your eating than the what.

Most online nutrition coaching is meant to work for the masses. It focuses on the pragmatic and logistical parts of eating healthy - how many calories you’re eating, what amounts of carbs/fats/proteins your diet consists of, where your measurements are trending. And if the results presented to your coach once a week aren’t in line with your goals, the conversation typically revolves around what you’re doing to prevent that progress, not what you’re feeling. These coaching services also work with the assumption that everyone knows how to properly weigh, measure, and track their food intake - or it assumes that if you don’t, you’ll figure it out pretty quickly.

One of the most glaring issues with online nutrition coaching - and nutrition coaching in general - is that people assume everyone starts at the same place.

How do we address the fact that every individual is different when they start their journey toward weight loss, weight gain, or a generally healthier lifestyle? Simple. The same way we train our clients - individualization.

Precision Training’s Nutrition Coaching programs are built so that you can customize them to your starting point, your goals, your needs, and your budget. Pick and choose what suits your needs:

  • Subscription-based programs for meal plans and macro counting

  • Coaching phone calls (as (in)frequently as you’d like, centered around YOUR goals and gameplan for reaching them)

  • Customized macros

We don’t expect anyone to know what they need right off the bat - that’s what we’re here for. What we do know is that solid nutrition is something that everyone should incorporate into their life and the knowledge of how to fuel your body right is something that everyone deserves to have. Even in the midst of battling to be better, you should always feel like you’re winning.
