How To Overcome Hard Times
- Let's start with a question. How do you perceive the obstacles and adversities that come into your life? Think about that for a moment right now!
- A study I read recently showed that 80% of the average persons thoughts are NEGATIVE. To take this EVEN FURTHER, 90% to 95% of the average persons thoughts are REPETITIVE. Let that sink in for a minute. If we are REPEATING those NEGATIVE thoughts, then we are thinking WAY more negative than we are positive. YOUR PERCEPTION MATTERS!
- I need ya'll to know that your attitude is YOUR CHOICE!! I get asked so often how I am able to always be so positive and energetic. My answer to that is this - I don't let my circumstances control or define me. I really want ya'll to know that you really do have CONTROL over that. I am going to give you a "Tip from Gingerbread'' in how I am able to remain positive through any adversity or obstacle that enters my life. It is all about your PERCEPTION of those adversities or obstacles. I view adversity, trials, hard times etc as an ACHIEVABLE hill (NOT an immovable wall) in my road. Everybody has hills, no matter where your life takes you (unless it’s Nebraska) there WILL BE hills. The question then isn't "Will I have hills?" The question we need to be asking ourselves is "How am I go to respond when these hills come?"
You have 3 OPTIONS: (Remembering what I said earlier about YOUR attitude is YOUR choice)
1). You can stay put right at the bottom of the hill.
2). You can go backwards steering away from that hill.
3). OR You can CLIMB.
1. - If you choose the first option, you may think that you are safe because at least you are on the right track and not backpedaling. That may be true, but just because you are on the right track does NOT mean you can't get run over. Staying put only guarantees that you WILL NEVER see what you could've been capable of.
2. - If you choose the second option, you will be safe from the difficult journey that lies ahead but remember this - Going backwards is twice as hard because you have LESS control of the steering wheel.
3. - If you choose the third option, I would like to first say congratulations. A very common question that gets asked by people who choose the third option is this "How do I climb?" My friends, the answer is SIMPLE, ONE-STEP-AT-A-TIME!! Keeping your eyes on the sunlight AHEAD and NOT on the road blocks below. Everybody's path has both sunlight and road blocks, it is up to you which one you are going to put your focus on. YOUR PERCEPTION MATTERS.
